Empowering women to play an equal role in solving the most urgent challenges of our time – from climate change to poverty and social inequality – has never been more pressing and alarming. To make these solutions fit for purpose, we must urgently take into account a gender perspective, considering the needs of both women and men, particularly as we leverage scientific research and take action to fight against climate change.

Science is still dominated by men, with serious consequences for scientific progress and gender equality. The scientific community must become more inclusive if we are to make tangible progress on addressing the crises facing humanity. Women must help lead the march towards a sustainable, liveable world.

Within our society, loneliness is a growing phenomenon, social and economic inequality is deepening, and vulnerable people struggle to lead fulfilling lives. At the Fondation L’Oréal, we believe that beauty can play a vital role in empowering women to develop confidence, reconnect with themselves and others, and reintegrate with their communities.
